Photosynth is a free online program that allows you assemble multiple photographs of one place/thing/person into a 3d matrix. You can then navigate through this matix on screen. The program works by linking common points in the photographs, and assembling these into a 'point cloud'. Above is a quick video of how it looks
You can try it out at the photosynth website by installing the software. Two synths worth checking out are the 'Head of Greg', and 'Petra - the treasury' Its easy to navigate, just scroll and click on the outlined photographs. If you press 'CTRL' while scrolling, you get a view of the point cloud only, which can make for interesting viewing. It presents a lot of opportunities for a new ways of representing space.
